Try your hand at sewing and join us for this workshop where you’ll learn how to do a blanket stitch and create a felt stuffie--your own little reading buddy!

This program is for kids ages 9-12. No previous sewing experience is necessary, but kids will need to be able to safely handle a sewing needle and hot glue gun (with supervision). 

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

• This is a 2-hour workshop and kids will be able to take a brief break during it, so feel free to pack your water bottle and a quick snack to bring along with you (please mention in the registration form if you have any allergies we should be aware of). 
• After some brief instruction in hand stitching techniques, kids will get to practice their new skills to make a felt stuffie of their choice (see registration details below for options).
• The stuffie project will require kids to work mostly independently to hand stitch the precut felt pattern together and hot glue the decorative felt pieces on, with staff monitoring and providing assistance as needed.
• Adult caregivers are welcome to stay with their child to help them if needed, but kids must still be between 9-12 years old.
• Please note: to ensure safety around crafting tools, younger siblings (under 9 and not registered) should not attend.

REGISTRATION DETAILS:

• Please select which stuffie option your child would like to make when submitting the registration form so that we can precut the pattern and ensure we have enough materials.
• Pick only one of the following two options (write your selection in the registration form):
  1. Double-sided emoji stuffie (Pattern will be provided to create a double-sided stuffie, with laughing emoji on one side and crying emoji on other. Additional scrap fabric will be available to modify/customize emoji face as desired)
  2. Super Mario toadstool mushroom stuffie
